West Main Baptist Church

The West Main Street Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas was founded by L. L. Pruitt, April 12, 1945. The church initially met in a converted residence, until they completed a permanent structure in 1949. Originally the church participated in the Baptist Bible Fellowship, but now is an independent unaffiliated Baptist Church.

A family story passed down to me is that Brother Pruitt got cedar lumber to build the original front doors (no longer there) from my grandfather, Robert Lee Chapman. Granddaddy Chapman was a cousin to his father, John Turner Pruitt

It appears that in its earlier years, at least in newspaper reports, the church was called West Main Street Baptist Church, but later shortened it to simply West Main Baptist Church.

The current pastor is Luke Martinez.
